2. What is Google acsm file?

Acsm is the abbreviation of “Adobe Content Server Message”, it was created by Adobe to protect and distribute eBooks which is Epub or PDF format, so that you can’t copy and transfer eBooks to others. To do this, it contains Adobe drm(digital rights management) to activate and download an eBook but does not contain the eBook itself. It could only be opened by Adobe Digital Editions.

So with this background it’s easy to understand why you get the acsm file when download the ebook from Google Play. That is when you want to read books on your computer or ereaders, you get an acsm file first and then you need to convert it to epub or pdf format with ADE.

3. Convert Google acsm files to EPUB or PDF

Before we start , make sure you already get the Google acsm file.

Adobe Digital Editions is a freeware, just like Adobe Reader for PDF, you can click here to know more about Adobe Digital Editions. After downloaded it, follow the instructions to install it.

Step 2Create a new account and authorize your computer with an Adobe ID.

4. Transfer Google Play Books to eReader

First, you need to make sure your Kobo or Nook account is registered with the same account of Adobe ID.

Then, connect your eReader to computer with USB cable, and open ADE.

The next step is very simple, as the picutre shows, just drag the book to your device which you want to transfer it to.
